Oh I dunno, I could see myself trying to balance that thing on my head. Although if it happened to fall off and hit someone, it would probably knock them out. It looks to be made of solid metal.

I don't know a thing about this "pence" and royalty business, but it seems pretty cool. I guess the closest thing we have to royalty in the US is a Kardashian. Which, if you think about it, is just about the saddest thing ever.

Oh wow, I love all the ornate needlework from olden times. There was even a bit of needlework on the fall runways. I used to love doing little cross stitch pillows and things when I was a kid.

I agree that Everyman's Rules is more of a literary classic... and it certainly hits home on the science v nature theme, worm - but Salmon Fishing in the Yemen is a fun read, you don't have to think too much - though it does make you think.

Hi Susan,

Yes, big knickers should make a comeback. I personally loved the big navy blue school knickers often spotted as the ladies said when they did gym.

They cover everything but the more modern (70's/80's) styles were quite close fitting and beautifully display the feminine curves whilst still covering all the necessary parts for modesty.

I well remember some women discussing the subject and concluded that they were also very comfortable - so its win/win!
