Just back from Cornwall, where the weather was… well, changeable - to put it mildly. Sometimes Summer nights in the UK get so nippy that a pair of gloves wouldn’t go amiss.
In fact, I rather wish I’d taken along some of the curiously cute fingerless feather gloves from ShopCurious. Beautifully handmade in France, there are four styles to choose from – long or short, warmer jersey or lighter net. But the really unique thing about these handy accessories is the fabulous feather trim, which makes them perfect for day or night.
Back in the 1950s, young girls always wore gloves for special occasions – like going to church, or the theatre, or meeting the boyfriend’s parents. Nowadays, we only tend to see gloves at weddings, or when worn of necessity – on bitterly cold days, or by motorcyclists and mountaineers.
I’m curious to know why more people don’t wear gloves… and I’m all for a little more retro style French Summer gloving.

gloves on girls are lovely! not so keen on gloves on men, looks a bit pervy.
Having grown up in cornwall, I can attest to the fact that the very second the sun goes under the horizon the temperature plummets like a stone!!!! Something to do with landmasses and cooling seawater or something.
whereabouts were you? somewhere very stylish I'm sure!
So true, worm, the Cornish climate is very curious - dense fog, torrential rain and warm humid air one minute and icy cold winds the next. I was in the south - away from the action.
You've got me thinking men's gloves - the doctors latex variety, Persuaders style leather driving gloves, big red boxing gloves - and the heavy duty ones worn by falconers, firemen and fishermen... just wondering what constitutes 'pervy'?
It's the leather gloves that I don't like! Perhaps I've watched too many James Bond films where the baddie always tries to strangle someone with a piano wire whilst wearing a pair...
I have a black pair of lace gloves for Summer! ;-)
♥
Lovely & unique details Susan!
I still want a long pair in soft leather~ chocolate brown preferably*
xo
I love gloves! Nothing makes me feel so ladylike and polished, although I tend to only wear them in the cold! My mom has a bunch of lightweight cotton and crochet gloves that belonged to my grandmother, but they're so tiny I can hardly get a finger in them :/
Provided you choose the right pair, gloves are sexily stylish for both men and women. But latex should definitely be avoided...
The look 50's keeps on being of fashion..be in the clothes or in the movies. Entertaining scene of Grease and also in French !! :-)
Aqui en España hace mucho calor para llevar guantes..
